Dolly Parton ‘Almost Fell Over’ in Shock When She Posed With a Near-Naked Arnold Schwarzenegger

Dolly Parton and Arnold Schwarzenegger posed together for an interview she gave with Rolling Stone. The pictures caused a bit of a stir, as Schwarzenegger was practically naked in them. Parton could hardly talk about the photo shoot without dissolving into laughter. She shared what it was like to take the photos.

In 1977, Annie Leibovitz photographed Parton and Schwarzenegger for Rolling Stone magazine. Parton said she hadn’t known what to expect when she walked into the shoot.

“I just thought I was just gonna take regular pictures,” she told interviewer Huell Howser, per the book Dolly by Alanna Nash. “But when I got there, this girl, it’s a real popular photographer, Annie Leibovitz, she’s really, really sharp, and she comes up with some real good ideas. But when I walked in, here was this naked man.”

Schwarzenegger wore a red Speedo, but Parton covered it in some of the photos, giving the impression that he was fully naked. She could hardly talk about it without laughing.

“Almost naked — had on these little skin-tight, uh, shorts, and all this . . . body, and it was just … I just almost fell over. [Laughter],” she said. “And I said [she gets a mischievous glint in her eye], ‘What are me and him gonna do together?’ [She squeals on the last syllable, and then begins giggling so hard she almost can’t tell the story. Howser can hardly contain himself.] And the idea she had was the male and female body. And it turned out really neat.”

She said she enjoyed working with Schwarzenegger that day.

“It’s got a lot of … attention, yeah, and they made some posters up of ‘em,” she said. “And he was such a nice guy to know. We had a fun day takin’ the pictures, but, like I say, it was new to me.”

Schwarzenegger said he also enjoyed shooting with Parton. In an interview with Time Magazine, he said she was the perfect weight in his arms.

“[She was] the nicest weight I have lifted in a long time,” he said. “I did a one-arm curl with her. She was about 110 pounds, good resistance. My biceps felt very good after that. So did I.”

Some people were unhappy with the story that ran with the pictures

In the interview itself, Parton spoke to journalist Chet Flippo. She talked openly about her body, sex, and the “hot and heavy” stories she wrote as a “horny” teenager. Parton’s former designer, Lucy Adams, believed this reflected a changed version of the singer. Because of this, she didn’t think that the story could all be true.

“I think it’s their own writing lots of times,” Adams said, adding, “I can’t see Dolly changing that much, ’cause I don’t think Dolly would change basically from what she has always been. I told her when we were doing the show, ‘Dolly, don’t ever change.’ She said, ‘I can’t. I have to just be me.’”

She worried that changing in this way would do nothing good for Parton’s career.

“I hope she never does, and I don’t think she has to,” Adams said. “I don’t think she could better herself by changing in any way.”

Still, Parton said she was happy with the way the interview turned out.

At the 2024 Paris Olympics, celebrities appeared on the sidelines at a number of events, but no one was as present as Snoop Dogg. The rapper sat with athletes’ families, provided commentary on events, and offered his analysis on plays. He was one of the primary faces of the Games, and he was paid handsomely for his avid support of Team USA. According to one source, Snoop received a big payday for his presence at the Olympics.

This summer, Snoop Dogg has been one of Team USA’s biggest fans. He joined athletes at the trials, even trying some of the events on the track. When he arrived in Paris, Snoop took a swimming lesson from Michael Phelps, dressed in full equestrian gear with Martha Stewart, practiced fencing, and cheered on Simone Biles with her family.

His ubiquity at the Games is the result of a deal with NBC. He traveled to Paris to provide commentary on various Olympic events. This gig reportedly paid quite well.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, Henry McNamara, an investor, posted about a conversation he had with an NBC executive.

“Sat next to an NBC exec at dinner, he said Snoop gets paid $500k a day plus expenses to be here promoting Olympics. From Gin and Juice to a few million to be a celebrity at the Olympics – what a world.”

The Olympics ran from July 26 to Aug. 11, meaning that Snoop could have raked in nearly $9 million.

His 2021 Olympic commentary secured him the spot

NBC hired Snoop Dogg based on his commentary on the 2021 Tokyo Olympics. That year, Snoop and Kevin Hart hosted a highlight show on Peacock. NBC was so happy with his performance that they decided to make him a special correspondent in Paris.

“That performance alone has earned Snoop a job as our Special Correspondent in Paris,” NBC executive Molly Solomon said, per The Daily Mail. “We don’t know what the heck is going to happen every day, but we know he will add his unique perspective to our re-imagined Olympic primetime show.”

The decision has paid off. The Paris Olympics has brought in a significantly higher number of viewers than Tokyo, which some credit in part to Snoop Dogg’s presence.

On Aug. 11, Snoop continued to promote the Olympics, but this time from the other side of the world. The 2028 Summer Games will take place in Los Angeles, and the city hosted musical performances as part of the closing ceremony. Immediately after his father’s death, Julian Lennon traveled to New York to be with Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon. While he was not particularly close with Ono, he felt New York was the best place for him to be in the aftermath. According to Cynthia Lennon, an offer Ono made Julian came as a terrible shock to him.

When Julian arrived in New York, he helped Ono break the news of Lennon’s death to Sean Lennon. The following day, Ono showed him Lennon’s ashes.

“The morning after Sean was told, Julian was asked to go to Yoko’s room,” Cynthia wrote in her book John. “‘Would you like to touch it?’ she said, indicating an urn that stood over the fireplace. Julian stopped in his tracks and stared in horror. Almost on autopilot, he did as he was told. It was still warm.”

While Cynthia believed Ono had good intentions, she shocked Julian to his core.

“No doubt Yoko meant well — perhaps she thought it would help Julian say goodbye or feel connected to his father — but for Julian it came as the rudest shock to realize that the urn contained his father’s ashes,” Cynthia wrote. “It was just over forty-eight hours since John had died and although Julian had known there would be no funeral — Yoko had made a public statement to this effect — he wasn’t ready to be presented with a jar and told it contained the remains of his father. The shock stayed with him for a long time afterward.”

While Julian found this moment unpleasant, some of Ono’s other decisions benefited him. She thought, for example, that Julian should have a friend to support him.

“However, Yoko also suggested he might like a friend to keep him company, an offer he accepted gratefully; he asked for Justin,” Cynthia wrote. “The whole thing was arranged speedily and Justin was soon in New York.”

She also realized that the crowds surrounding the apartment building at all hours were keeping Julian isolated. She decided to bring the boys out of the city to spend time at her home on Long Island. They stayed there during the silent vigil for Lennon.

Though Cynthia appreciated some of what Ono did for Julian, she also felt the other woman behaved insensitively at times. In a statement she wrote to the public, Ono did not mention Julian’s presence in New York or his loss.

“This statement, published in newspapers around the world, summed up so much of what Julian had to go through,” Cynthia wrote. “There was no mention of his being there with Yoko when she told Sean. Yoko even quoted Julian’s words as her own. There was no mention that John’s older son had also lost a father. And Julian’s name was not added to the signature. The insensitivity of this took my breath away.”

Cynthia thought it was terrible that Julian had to deal with this exclusion while he mourned his father’s death.

Jennifer Lopez has been in show business for close to three decades. In that time, she has built a career as a dancer, actor, singer, and businesswoman. She has, undoubtedly, found success on her chosen path. Still, she said she was proud of herself for having survived for as long as she has.

Though Lopez has enjoyed years of success in show business, she admitted that she is only just starting to give herself credit for her success.

“I feel very proud that I’ve survived as long as I have in this business,” Lopez told Harper’s Bazaar in 2019. “At this point in my life, I’m trying to give myself more credit.”

Lopez said it was hard to ignore some of her critics. No matter what she has achieved, she said she will always remember the harsh things people have said about her.

“It’s hard when people are always telling you that you’re not good at things or saying, ‘Why is she successful?’” she said. “You get a lot of that when you’re a successful woman. You don’t get that as much when you’re a man. The thing about people, women especially, is that you can have 12 people telling you you’re amazing, but that one person kind of putting you down, that’s the voice that sticks in your head.”

She admitted she sometimes feels like a fraud

Lopez said that the weight of others’ opinions of her can sometimes be too much. She admitted she sometimes feels like a fraud.

“I think sometimes people try to make you feel like you’re a fraud,” she said. “And maybe you’re afraid you’re one too.”

She has to continually remind herself that she worked hard for what she has achieved.

“Then finally you go, ‘Wait, I’m not lying. I’ve been doing this a long time. This is not a mistake. I worked hard to be here.’ And you know what? Congratulations to myself,” she said. “Not in an arrogant way, by any means. It’s like, ‘You’re doing good, baby. Give yourself a break.’”

Though Lopez has been a mainstay in show business for years, she does not feel that she fits in with her peers. She admitted that she always feels like an outsider.

“I’ve always felt like an outsider, in the fashion world, the music world, the movie world,” she told Vogue in 2022. “I feel like everybody knows each other and all the artists talk, and you go to the Met ball and all the girls are hanging out together, and I’m not in that group. Maybe that’s just insecurity.”

As a result, she said she doesn’t typically network. She relies on hard work to move ahead.

“I’m not the kind of person who goes up to everybody at a party and says hi,” she told Harper’s Bazaar, adding, “I’m not a networker. I’ve always just kept my nose to the grindstone.”

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner share three children together. By all accounts, they seem to be very dedicated to the well-being of their kids as they co-parent. When their first daughter was born, though, Affleck joked that he shouldn’t be offering anyone parenting advice. He explained that Garner didn’t seem to trust him to do even the simplest of tasks.

In a press conference for Affleck’s 2006 film Hollywoodland, one reporter asked the actor if he had any advice to offer new parents. He had recently become a father for the first time.

“I am not the person to come to for advice. … I’ll tell you a quick anecdote. Two days ago my wife had to go to work,” ” he told IGN, adding “I was there. I was taking care of the baby. I was trying to make sure everything was going to be okay.”

As Garner prepared to walk out the door, she asked Affleck if he could handle feeding their daughter.

“She said, ‘Okay, I’m running out,’ she gave me the baby,” he recalled. “She said, ‘Okay, you know how to feed her with the solid food?’ I said, ‘Yes, I know how to feed her.’ She said, ‘You take the peaches, you stir that up and you put that in with a little oatmeal and then put that in with a little bit of the crushed pears, and you mix that up,’ and then she looked at me and said, in all seriousness, ‘Is this too complicated?’”

Affleck joked that this anecdote should make anyone think twice about asking him for parenting advice.

“This is [what] my wife thinks of my parenting abilities,” he said. “Clearly, I should not be offering advice to anyone else.”

While Affleck said that people shouldn’t ask him for advice, he did love to be a father. He said it completely changed his life.

“I love being a father, it’s wonderful,” he said. “It’s changed my life. It all sounds like platitudes and clichés because they’re true. It fast became the most important thing in my life and I reorganized my priorities instantly in a way that feels really good. I love that.”

He said it helped that Garner was such a good parent.

“My wife is spectacular, a spectacular mother, spectacular everything, so that’s really nice,” he said.

Following the outbreak of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, Affleck said he began to think differently about how to draw people to theaters when there were so many good television shows on at home. He admitted that conversations with his daughter led to this line of thinking.

“My daughter is 17. She lives her life largely in opposition to the work her parents have spent their lives dedicated to, where she’ll say things like, ‘I’m not sure film is really … Do you think it’s a genuine art form?’” he told The Hollywood Reporter. “I like the fact that she has this silver rapier tongue.”

In a separate interview, he said that his daughter is critical of many elements of the films he made.

“There are things where my daughter will be like, ‘This is ableist and disgusting,’ and okay. The way we see stuff has changed a little bit, or a lot in some cases,” he told Entertainment Weekly. “And there are things that seemed they could work at the time and don’t in retrospect.”

He said even the worst movies have taught him something

While Affleck can understand where she’s coming from, he said he can find value in even his worst movies. 2003’s Gigli, for example, was an undisputed flop. Still, he learned from the experience of being on set. It taught him a great deal about directing, which he went on to pursue.

“[Gigli] didn’t work and we did five weeks of reshoots, which we knew were not gonna work. It was a movie that didn’t work … Interestingly, I learned more about directing on that movie than anything else because Marty [Brest] is a brilliant director, really gifted. It’s not like it’s worse than all… there’s a bunch of horrible movies and in terms of losing money, I’ve had five movies — at least! — that have lost more money than Gigli has.”

Lopez and Michelle Obama have met multiple times over the years, with Lopez even joining Obama’s voter initiative in 2022. In a recent article about Lopez, many of her friends and collaborators shared what they liked about the multi-hyphenate talent. Obama shared what she admired about her.

Obama said that she admires much about Lopez. In the times they spent together, she took note of her beauty, drive, and talent. Still, she said the quality she admired most about Lopez was the way she uses her platform.

“The world knows that Jennifer is blessed with many gifts — talent, beauty, and an unparalleled work ethic,” she told InStyle in 2021. “But what impresses me the most about her is her unwavering commitment to leverage those gifts and use her platform to give voice to the voiceless.”

Obama said that Lopez had never been afraid to put herself out there to help others.

Affleck, who first dated Lopez in the early 2000s, spoke glowingly about her in interviews that took place around their 2021 reunion. He said that this made him a target for bullies. When looking back, he believed this set him up for success as a musician.

“Amongst my male classmates, there are mainly good souls. In the 1960s, Springsteen discovered The Beatles. He loved their music, but he also wanted to look like them.

“All it said was Meet the Beatles. That was exactly what I wanted to do,” he wrote. “Those four half-shadowed faces, rock’ n’ roll’s Mount Rushmore, and . . . THE HAIR . . . THE HAIR.”

While The Beatles were the most popular band in the world, their look did not go over well in Springsteen’s New Jersey town.

“The a** whippings, insults, risks, rejections, and outsider status you would have to accept to wear it,” he wrote. “In recent years, only the punk revolution of the seventies would allow small-town kids the ability to physically declare their ‘otherness,’ their rebellion. In 1964, Freehold was redneck ugly and there was no shortage of guys who were willing to make their rejection of your fashion choices a physical affair. I ignored the insults, avoided the physical confrontations as best I could and did what I had to do.”

When Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck were together the first time, she said he wore the pants in their relationship. This statement got some eye rolls, as it’s clear to most that Lopez is extremely career-driven. She acknowledged this and said her work life is the reason she likes to “submit” in her romantic relationships.

In 2003, Lopez and Affleck gave a joint interview as an engaged couple. When asked about their dynamic, Lopez said Affleck “wears the pants” in their relationship.

“Ben wears the pants,” Lopez told Access Hollywood. “He definitely wears the pants. We respect each other and that’s the important thing.”

In an interview later that year, Lopez further explained what she meant. She said that she was so dominant and driven in her career that she wanted someone to take care of her in her personal life.

“It’s about being able to feel safe somewhere,” she told W Magazine. “That doesn’t mean I’m not a strong, independent woman. But I think when you’re in a relationship, you have to submit to a certain extent.”

Everyone who knows her says she is relentlessly hardworking

Given what those who know Lopez have said about her drive, it’s hardly surprising that she wanted some sort of reprieve at home.

“I’ve never seen anybody work as hard as her,” her longtime work partner Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas said. “She worked for every opportunity she’s ever had. She wasn’t given anything.”

Lopez has often described herself as a workaholic. She feels she has something to prove.

“I’m not one of those media darlings,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. “I didn’t get kissed into this business. I’m from the Bronx. I had to find my way, so I’ve always felt like I had to prove myself. Maybe that’s a good drive to have. I never settle for mediocre.”

Jennifer Lopez said men and women have different approaches to relationships

Lopez said she has a traditional view of relationships. She had a preference for this dynamic, but she also felt it was inherent to the nature of men and women. She believes women are more focused on building a home life than men.

“It’s the difference between ‘me’ and ‘we,’” she said. “Men operate from their own universe, and women are focused on family, keeping it together. Because we’re caretakers by nature — we give birth, we have to take care of that baby — and men don’t have that experience.”

By contrast, she thought men were more drawn to working and making money.

“They have to bring home the bacon, that kind of stuff,” she said. “Those are different sensibilities.”

Despite this, Lopez has always been a significant breadwinner in all of her romantic relationships.
